Phil's Button Maker outputs code for the coolest - and probably the fastest-loading - HTML buttons you can get for your website. They're fast because they're pure HTML, no images, just a set of simple display instructions to your visitors' browsers... which means they're just as effective when visitors have images turned off. If you prefer conventional buttons, choose the JavaScript option when you launch Phil's Button Maker - but remember that JavaScript buttons will only work if your visitors have JavaScript enabled.

Of course, you can always choose "View Page Source" (or whatever your browser's equivalent is) and simply lift the code straight from this page... but where's the fun in that? Oh, well...
Geek Stuff About Colours
Phil's Button Maker recognises the standard 16 web-safe colours:
Aqua, Black, Blue, Fuchsia, Gray, Green, Lime, Maroon, Navy, Olive, Purple, Red, Silver, Teal, White and Yellow. If you want to use any other colours, you'll need to either edit the HTML file that Phil's Button Maker creates or use the Hex codes. Phil's Button Maker doesn't recognise Hex codes directly, but it does allow you to use them. But if you're into HTML editing or Hex coding, what are you doing using Phil's Button Maker - are you Seriously Lazy or what??

System Requirements
Any Mac running system 7.5 or higher; AppleScript.
Phil's Button Maker was compiled with AppleScript 1.3.4 under MacOS 8.5.1 - if it won't run on your machine, try this:
1) Open it with the Script Editor (should be in the AppleScript folder, in the Apple Extras folder)
2) Change something (just typing a space will do)...
3) ...then change it back (if you typed a space, delete it)
4) Click the "Check Syntax" button (should be top right on the Script Editor window)
5) Save it.
This should recompile Phil's Button Maker to run on your system.

Distribution Info
Shareware distributors are welcome to include Phil's Button Maker on Web sites, CD ROMs etc provided that:
(i) it is not modified in any way (suggestions for modifications/improvements are most welcome, however);
(ii) the "About Phil's Button Maker" file (part of the download) accompanies it;
(iii) no charge is made for it.
