Canaan Christian Centre is run by an inter-denominational Christian trust. The centre was officially opened by the entertainer Roy Castle in November 1979 with the support of local Christians and churches.

The initial vision was for Canaan to be a Christian Bookshop and Counselling Centre, but it widened to become a resource centre serving the churches and local community in various ways and in encouraging and participating in mission here and abroad.

We have a large stock of Christian Books, Bibles, CDs, Videos, Computer Software, Cards and Gifts.

We also have a coffee lounge with drinks and cakes available to our customers and a counselling room to offer prayer and help to any requiring it.

The Chapter Two bookshop has served the Christian church in South East London and beyond for over 15 years, specialising in fundamental, dispensational, and non-denominational literature.

Besides the publications of ChapterTwo publishing House, it also has a range of titles from publishers as Believers Bookself, Bible Truth Publishers, Loizeaux Bros, J Ritchie, Scripture Truth Publishers, Banner of Truth and Evangelical Press etc. It has a large selection of Bibles (perhaps the best in SE London) in English and foreign languages. The friendly multi-national volunteers that serve in the shop look forward to serving you.

Chapter Two Bookshop also stocks the Norwegian and Swedish publications of Kristen Litteratur. The mail order service sends books all over the UK and to over 100 countries worldwide.

Previously trading as SPCK St Stephen the Great Bookshop, Chichester, the Chichester Shop Management Co is one of several UK trading identities used by the Brewer family, Texas. Along with the Durham Cathedral Shop, this shop's trading identity was changed in 2008 in what appears to have been part of a complex strategy to evade creditors and ringfence profitable shops prior to a spurious attempt to file "St Stephen the Great LLC" for bankruptcy in the Texas Bankruptcy Courts in June 2008.

Despite the claimed bankruptcy, the family (headed up by J Mark and Philip W Brewer) have continued to trade variously as SPCK St Stephen the Great Bookshops, Durham Cathedral Shop, ENC Management Company, Chichester Shop Management Co and Third Space Books. The parent organisation, the St Stephen the Great Charitable Trust (also known as the St Stephen the Great Trust and commonly abbreviated to either SSG or SSGCT) is subject to an ongoing investigation by the Charity Commission in response to a number of complaints about their trading activities.
