As a web designer and commentator (as well as managing this and several other sites, I write the monthly web review column for Christian Marketplace magazine), I'm frequently asked whether there's any one particular book I'd recommend to someone who wants to get it right. This is it.

Rather than a technical handbook it's a well illustrated, reader-friendly guide to the essentials of web interface design that includes key guidelines on designing for accessibility and includes examples of both good and bad practice: what to aim for and what to avoid - and much if not all of what's in it can be found on the companion website.

Take what you find in this book on board and you won't need a design consultant. If you've commissioned a website or are building your own, you need this book — and if the people designing your site don't have a copy, fire them and hire someone who does.
