Practical & Liturgical Resources for Lent and Holy Week
Ruth Burgess and Chris Polhill
Category: Worship & Liturgy This resource book is full of liturgies, stories, prayers, reflections, responses and songs. It is organised according to the calendar from Shrove Tuesday through to Easter Sunday. There are pieces that could be used in the home, in school assemblies, in all-age services, and in more formal settings, like the Sunday Eucharist — some of the materials tie in to the Common Worship Lectionary. The creativity displayed in these resources can be a springboard for the reader's own imagination. Many of the items are very thought provoking. I particularly appreciated the Lenten Discipline for Christians who care about the environment and the resources for Good Friday including the Stations of the Cross and the reflections on some of the Last Words. This is an excellent resource to be kept handy when planning worship in Lent and Holy Week.
